PEG has a multifaceted application ranging from molecular solubilization in conventional formulations to stealth in nanoparticles and implantable devices. Modifications of native PEG with different and well-defined structural features are currently under progress and can have a significant contribution in drug delivery. Literature published in this arena has focused upon applications of PEG. A proper guidance on optimal use of PEG (type and concentration) based on its application or role is main theme of this article.
